"The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically...Intelligence plus character--that is the goal of true education."

--from "The Purpose of Education" by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

I graduated from Mississippi State University with a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education with an English concentration and minor. I earned a Master of Arts in Applied Linguistics and TESL (Teaching English as a Second Language) from the University of Mississippi. Currently, I am a Ph.D. student at the University of Mississippi. I am endorsed to teach English as a Second Language grades K-12 and English grades 7-12.

I began my career as an educator teaching high school English. Upon receiving my M.A., I moved abroad and taught high school ESL courses. After gaining many valuable and unforgettable professional and life experiences, I moved back to the U.S. in 2014 and have been employed with the DeSoto County School District ever since. I came into DCS as an elementary EL teacher. In 2017, I assumed the role of EL instructional coach serving our district's twenty-two elementary schools. #TeamDCS
