About the Teacher

I am pleased to be working with English learners at HHS and HMS.  English learners are students whose first language is one other than English.  I work with students everyday at both schools.  My lessons include reading, writing, listening, and speaking with a focus on vocabulary and grammar.

Education: Bachelor of Science, Graphic Design, Mississippi College

Master of Education, Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages, University of Missouri

Experience: I began teaching English to non-native speakers in Luang Prabang, Laos.  I later taught in the Academic English program for international students at Black Hills State University in Spearfish, SD.  I have been an English Learner teacher in DeSoto County Schools since 2015.

Bio: I am married and have two boys.  We are also foster parents, so at times we have other children in our home.  I love traveling, reading, crafting, running, and hiking.  I am originally from MS and graduated from Hernando High School.  I have also lived overseas in Thailand and Laos where I studied the langauge and taught English.
