About the Teacher
I have been an educator for 32 years. I have taught 1st grade, 3rd grade, and college level teacher preparation classes. I have also been a school library/media specialist. I am from the state of Georgia. I moved to Mississippi in the summer of 2018. I am blessed to be able to teach in the Department of English Learners for DeSoto County Schools. I have a husband who is a cattle rancher, two adult children, and lots of rescued pets.

Activities you may enjoy this week.
Listening: Watch this video about dolphins that live at the Dolphin Research Center in Florida. This video gives you an up close look at the day to day activities of the dolphins and their caregivers. After you watch the video tell someone at home 2 things that you learned about dolphins today.
Speaking: Say as many words as you can think of that begin with the same sound as dolphin. Next, say as many words as you can that end with the same sound that dolphin ends with. Then, split the word dolphin into two syllables... dol-phin. Looking at the second syllable what is the initial sound of that syllable? This one can be tricky but I am pretty sure you will remember that /ph/ together makes the same sound as /f/. Come up with as many words as you can that have a medial sound like the word dolphin. Use flipgrid to record your work lists for this practice. I can't wait to see what you come up with.
Reading: Read the book Parts from Unite for Literacy. This book will help you learn more about dolphins and other sea creatures. After reading, send me a message through email, flipgrid or text letting me whether you think this book is fiction, or nonfiction.
Writing: Draw a picture of a dolphin. Write a story telling about your dolphin. Remember to begin your sentences with capital letters, end your sentences with punctuation, and work hard to keep your handwriting nice and legible. I can't wait to see your stories.
