About the Teacher/Welcome Msg
I have a Bachelor of Science in English Education from Mississippi State University - GO DAWGS!
Later in life, I went back to school and earned a Master of Arts in Education with a Specialization in English Language Learners from Ashford University.
After graduating from Mississippi State, I taught 10th and 11th grade English at Horn Lake High School.
After having children, I worked part time as a Bus Driver for Hernando Elementary School and Hernando Hills Elementary School. I LOVED working with the little ones and taking them on fun field trips!
After finishing graduate school, I taught 9th and 11th grade English at DeSoto Central High School.
I have also taught Adult Education at Northwest Mississippi Community College, but working with children is my passion. So, I am with DeSoto County Schools as an English Learner Teacher. I absolutely love my job!
My name is Sherri Camp, and I am excited to be teaching English Learners at LCES. I have experience teaching high school and adults. This is my first time teaching elementary, so I am thrilled to be working with the young ones! I am a native of DeSoto County and a graduate of Southaven High School. I live in Hernando, MS with my husband of 27 years, Paul. We have two children. Our daughter, Olivia, is 14 and attends Hernando High School. Our son, Garrett, is 12 and attends Hernando Middle School. We also have 3 dogs (Toto, Perry, and June) and one cat (Copper). I look forward to working with everyone at LCES.
I am on campus every day from 8:00 - 3:20. I pull students every day for 30 minutes. My goal is to improve their reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills.
