Daniel Buller, Secondary EL Specialist

As an EL Instructional Specialist at Desoto County Schools, Daniel has over 15 years of experience in teaching and supporting English learners across different ages, contexts, and levels. His mission is to help ELs achieve academic success and language proficiency through effective curriculum development, assessment, and instruction.

In his current role, he works with secondary EL teachers and students, providing guidance, resources, and feedback to enhance learning outcomes. He collaborates with other specialists and administrators to ensure alignment with state standards and best practices. Additionally, he contributes to the field of language teaching through publications, research, and professional development, drawing on his training in TESOL.

He's fluent in English, Portuguese, and Spanish, and has a streak of over 900 days on Duolingo that includes French and Japanese. He likes traveling, reading, learning about AI, and dreaming that the Nebraska Cornhuskers might again become a dominant force in college football. He has taught and worked with diverse English Learners in South Korea, Japan, and the United States. 

 

About Our EL Secondary Team

Our team is comprised of teachers who pride themselves in (1) providing high-quality English language development instruction to English learners and (2) supporting ELs and their families in our schools. Our teachers provide daily EL services to all English learners by creating language-specific lessons that are aligned to the MS English language proficiency standards and that are tailored to meet the various needs of individual learners across proficiency levels and content areas in the four domains of language: speaking, listening, reading, and writing.
